High Quality Lifestyles

Happy Birthday HQL

This year HQL turns the ripe old age of 20. As High Quality Lifestyles enters its twentieth year of operation all signs are that it is going from strength to strength. More to follow shortly.

High Quality Logos - Support Worker Dave Finlay wins logo competition

Dave Finlay and HQL LogosEarlier in the year the Senior Management Team put out a letter to all the services inviting people to submit an entry for a competition to design a company logo. We were extremely happy with the response and there were some excellent entries. In the end it was Jamie and Kath as managing directors who were delighted to announce that Dave Finlay of Swerford House had won with his Kite design. The design was then sent off to a graphic designer who made a few alterations to make it computer friendly. The end product is the logo you see on this website, on all our emails, on our letterheads and of course, on our front door!
Congratulations and many thanks to Dave.

Domiciliary & Outreach are go!

Finally after months of planning and negotiations we are ready to launch HQL’s Domiciliary & Outreach support service!
We have been registered by the Care Quality Commission and are currently in the process of recruiting a small team of dedicated existing HQL staff who are looking for an exciting and challenging new opportunity providing specialist support to adults and children diagnosed as having Intellectual and developmental disabilities and challenging behaviour within the community.
It is still early days but I am confident that once we ‘put the word out there’ we will have a steady stream of referrals coming through to ensure that we are kept extremely busy.
I know that I am looking forward to working with a team of highly skilled staff and that together we can ensure that HQL Domiciliary & Outreach support service grows and expands.

HQL Shortlisted for Kent Excellence in Business Awards

Keiba 2010This awards scheme is staged and produced by Kent County Council and the KM Group to recognise and reward excellence in Kent's businesses. We are delighted to announce that in our first year of entering HQL have made it through to the final six in the' Best Business in Adult Social Care' category!

The first step completing and submitting an extensive (9-page!) application in March 2010. A couple of weeks later we heard that we had been shortlisted. This was fantastic news, of all the Social Care businesses across Kent we had made it into the final six! This truly is a reflection of the good work going on and progress being made within the services.

On the 20th April 2010 KEIBA sent down an expert panel to meet with us. We wanted the panel to get a feel for the real HQL and so facilitated 'meet and greets'  with; people staffing services, members of the SMT, the managing director, office staff and most importantly with people using services.

On May 24th we find out if we have made it into the final, which is to be held on 1st July 2010 at Historic Chatham Dockyard.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed. Fingers crossed!

HQL Welcomes Norway with open arms!

HQL have just played host to a group of Norwegian representatives who are engaged in the same field of work. The group consisted of people from all over the Norway working in a variety of settings and coming from a variety of backgrounds (Nurses, Behaviour Consultants, Psychologists etc).

The group had come across HQL when presenting at the Institute of  Applied Behaviour Analysis's international conference, and had wanted to come over and see our services in action.

It was a packed two days, but a great two days. Our visitors did not leave disappointed, and we in turn learned a thing or two about how they are doing things over there. Sometimes it is nice to know other people experience the same challenges as you do!
