High Quality Lifestyles Domiciliary and Outreach Support Service is a specialist service working with people with learning disabilities and severely challenging behaviour, and their families and other supporters. The service will provide care and support to children and adults but will not provide any nursing support.
HQL will provide personal care and emotional/physical support to the users of the service, support to access the community, respite care to families/carers within the person’s own home, behavioural management strategies and support, and full person centred care planning.
The required care and support can be provided within the person’s own home, their current placement or in the community.
The service is designed to support / enable service users to reach the optimum level of capabilities with the support of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. We support individual service users to achieve their maximum potential, to exercise choice in all aspect of their lives, and to be valued members of the community.
Highly trained and qualified staff will provide this service. All our support staff will have completed Level 1 & 2 in Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (PROACT-SCIPr-UK®) and the Service Manager will be trained to instructor level. Most of the staff will have gained an NVQ level 2/3 or be working towards this award. In addition staff will be trained in all the core subjects and other specialist training such as autism awareness, positive behaviour support, management of challenging behaviour etc. High Quality Lifestyles maintains a very proactive approach in all area of staff training. And frequently undertake skills scans on their staff members to review competencies and identify developmental needs.
Within the team we also have Person Centred Approach Consultants who provide guidance and support in the development of person centred care plans, positive behaviour support guidelines and strategies for risk management.
