training that is relevant and which support personal and career development
and importantly provide the skills needed to support our service users
positively
To this end we are embarking on an exciting strategy which will provide
staff training at an NVQ level in Challenging Behaviour and at a higher
level by undertaking courses at the Tizard Centre, University of Kent
at Canterbury as follows:-
Diploma in Intellectual and Development Disability (Person
Centred Support)
Diploma in Applied Psychology of Learning Disability ( Challenging
Behaviour)

All of our committed staff receive a wide range of relevant training
in areas such as: Positive Behaviour Support, Non-Aversive Strategies,
Interaction and Teaching Styles, Adult Protective and Abuse Awareness,
National Vocational Qualifications.
Staff are also supported to undertake further specialist training,
both internally and externally, particularly at The Tizard Centre,
University of Kent at Canterbury (UKC) with which HQL has
a strong relationship.
All staff members of HQL are trained in PROACT-SCIPr-UK
and positive behavioural support interventions. Key senior staff at HQL are
trained Instructors in Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention
(PROACT-SCIPr-UK).
